David Wertz, Ph.D.

Princeton Value Advisors was founded by David Wertz, Ph.D. to provide financial advice to individuals who wish to secure, manage and grow their wealth. By utilizing a distinctive approach to your financial well-being and stability, Dr. Wertz advises clients of all ages and financial backgrounds on how to achieve financial security and manage wealth.

Dr. Wertz has been successfully investing for more than three decades. During this period, he has compiled a phenomenal record of well above market returns. His investment proficiency includes a 32% annual return on the average stock purchased from 2001-2008. See the 2000-2008 Stock Results page for details.

Before becoming a professional financial advisor, David Wertz, Ph.D. had a successful career as a Computational Chemist, entrepreneur, and developer of knowledge-based systems. Having always been intrigued by the science of finance, he decided to devote himself full time to being an investment advisor. Although Dr. Wertz's path to becoming a financial advisor is an unorthodox one, it gives him a unique perspective on the workings of market economics, and has also contributed to his unique skills as a financial professional.

The experience of being an entrepreneur as well as a scientist has provided Dr. Wertz with the expertise that enables him to interpret the underlying economics based on a company's financial reports, and to comprehend both the opportunities and the risks.

Dr. Wertz makes a point of being knowledgeable about the full range of financial planning and investment methods. He has demonstrated the extent of his financial expertise by passing the comprehensive Certified Financial Plannertm exam, and all three Chartered Financial Analysttm (CFA) exams.

About the CFPtm and CFAtm Exams

The standard course of study for the CFPtm exam is six college level courses followed by a comprehensive exam lasting for a day and a half. The CFAtm course of study is recognized as being especially extensive and rigorous. The three certification exams are given a year apart and each lasts an entire day. Only one in 10 of those who take the first exam ever actually succeeds in passing the third one.

Most CFAs work for institutions. Dr. Wertz, however, is committed to serving individual investors, and is the only person in the Princeton area who has passed all three CFA exams who is doing so.

Dr. Wertz is a registered investment advisor in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
